5Much better than other HE machines
    By R. Kolin
There are many negative reviews of the washer on other websites, many of which are the result of owners not reading the instructions. We purchased this machine to replace a Whirlpool Calypso, which I found out from a salesman recently was a terrible HE machine that didn't clean clothes, broke down frequently, and was costly to repair. (He was shocked that we still were using it after almost 8 years!) There are only two of us in the household, so there was no need to purchase a huge, expensive front-loader with all the electronic bells and whistles. But the machine is still large enough to wash an occasional blanket with no problem.

This machine uses a sensing system. Basically, that means that after you put your clothes in and turn it on, it takes a few minutes to adjust before it starts. You will hear it click on and off a few times, and this is what is supposed to happen; it is not broken. The lock down lid can be overridden once the machine begins to run by simply pushing the on/off button once. The machine has an agitator in the center, which I believe helps clean clothes much better than many modern HE top-loaders without. Clothes came out very clean and it worked quickly. It took 50 minutes to wash a load of dark clothes, and 42 minutes to wash a load of whites.

This machine is a simple, no frills machine that really has all the features you need, and then some: 12 automatic cycles; On-off extra rinse option; 6 selectable water temperatures; 2 wash/spin speed combinations.

I highly recommend this machine, if you can still find it. I was told it is last year's model and because of that, I purchased at a reduced price. The comparable replacement model not only costs more, but is not as energy-efficient as this one. Per the Energy Star cost chart, this model costs $15/yr to operate; the new model costs $52/yr to operate.
